Speed Weve

Speed Weve
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal.
It has been such a damp and dismal day today that I have been forced to add another picture to my Blog.
A rather unusual find that was spotted amongst all the bric-a-brac at Lady Heynes Craft Centre(she wasn't at home).
The Speed weve has no instructions with it ...it says it is ...
"Lancashire's Smallest Loom"
The bar at the top pushes back and forth making the 10 hooks turn one way then the other...
The metal mechanical top is not attatched to the wooden disc.
Has anyone ever used one of these?
It is model No.1 ans cost 5 bob.

Yes, i used one once to knit the worlds smallest doily. It measured 2cm in diameter and I keep my contact lens on it filled with water incase my pet gnat wants a drink in the night.

Just kiddin'!

I think every gnome owns one to make those little hats. But Michael is very generous to provide so well for his pets.

If I had a loom like that I'd use it to make a winter coat for my pet weevil.

I'm considering borrowing this tiny weaving loom to makea tiny mat for my spider to wipe his feet on before he scuttles out onto the draining board to scare Archie.

I have just unearthed one of these in my much neglected sewing and scraps box, probably from my foraging days in Brighton. Also minus instructions, so would love a copy if possible.

I would love a copy of the instructions please. I have found one of these in an old tin. No-one remembers how to use it.

I used to darn my Dads' hand knitted socks using this little machine. It was used to weave little patches over the hole in the sock.
