Tin of SONGSTER pick-up needles

Found on a trip to Crewe market this week.
The needled are made of bronze.

What a lovely tin and personally, I would go for the GOLDEN. Not sure what that means, but it sounds good.

This is a tiny tin of needles for a gramaphone player..for old 33 and a third records. A very early stylus.
These are unusual, and michael has been told these were used in cinemas on their record players to play sound for the old films.
way way back....

I don't really understand how they used these in cinemas unless they just plonked the records on in certain places when a song was needed?
