Inspired by Sylvies Chesterton thread seal tape ,I found this similar tin at Lady Heyes.It contained a Britsh Yard of Un-stretched plaster...which it says could stretch up to 2 yards when stretched.
Instructions say:
To REMOVE SPOOL FROM CYLINDER PRESS IN FROM EITHER END.
STORE IN A COOL PLACE
