Crewe Market

Crewe Market
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal
Two items found on Crewe Market a few weeks ago.
I picked up the wire one and aske the man on the stall how much it was.
He said
"do you know what it is?"
"No" says I.
to which he replied
"So why are you buying it then?"
I muttered something about collecting metal things back..
whatever I said would have sounded odd...
he said for 50 pence I could buy it and he would tell me what it was...
a Bargain..
"they are for cleaning out your nozzle on your gas torch."

Michael gave me this for my birthday.(amongst other things)
He got it from a stall on the indoor market in Northwich, which sells toys and ephemera...I had seen it the week before and pondered if I should treat myself...luckily Michael knows me well.

Trevira's collection (back)

Trevira's collection
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal
Trevira sent us a lovely little package today.
I think they look great as a group and the one item has the longest PATENT information I have ever seen on such a small item..it says
"PATENTED IN GT BRITAIN AUSTRALIA CANADA NEW ZEALAND S.AFRICA U.S.A BELGIUM FRANCE GERMANY HOLLAND ITALY NORWAY SWEDEN DENMARK EIRE SWITZERLAND."
I think they almost have the planet covered!
Although we could get a factory at the North pole...and missing out China could be a mistake.

Plant Label

The sun has finally come out and the rain has kept away, so I finally have had a tidy up in the garden.
Found a few little treasures (watch this space)
But this is my favourite.
the label must date back a good 20 years, but the writing is still on there, I can't read it though.
it seems to say..
N A E A
the first few letters as lost to decay...
(My grandad used to use this sort of label)

Lots of stalls covered with things you would find in workshops and sheds all over England.
This packet of Insulated Staples was in a box that had lots of boxes of light bulbs too...but they were spares.
Cost....50 pence.

It was lurking in the bottom of a very oily, well used toolbox.
I didn't realise what it was until I bought it and cleaned off the grease.
"Terry's POCKET SCREWDIVER"
The holes are just large enough for a pen or pencil to go through, which will help the leverage.
A perfect design, nothing unnecessary.
and fits in you pocket.

This was the only item I got from the Hartford boot sale. It was in one of those cases with silver looking items, so I thought it would be expensive.
It cost the amazing fee of 10 pence.

Egg Decapitator

Egg decapitator

I tidied out a cupboard as part of my Summer Spring clean project, and I found this.
I lent it to a student years ago and it still had the Thank you tag attached.
It is for taking the top off a boiled egg.
