Hooks and Eyes

Hooks and Eyes
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal.
I have always liked and collected these cards of hooks and eyes and felt the blog was lacking some colour.
So I decided to include a few of these.
I have some thermometres for later in the week.
I know its too exciting but you will have to wait.
Good to see the Speed Weve sparking the creative minds of you all.

A very complicated and delicate mechanism to hold a photo onto a thick slab of glass and allow it to stand .
It looks more like a mouse trap.
The photo is of a very old fashioned lady from 1905 ish.

Speed Weve

Speed Weve
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal.
It has been such a damp and dismal day today that I have been forced to add another picture to my Blog.
A rather unusual find that was spotted amongst all the bric-a-brac at Lady Heynes Craft Centre(she wasn't at home).
The Speed weve has no instructions with it ...it says it is ...
"Lancashire's Smallest Loom"
The bar at the top pushes back and forth making the 10 hooks turn one way then the other...
The metal mechanical top is not attatched to the wooden disc.
Has anyone ever used one of these?
It is model No.1 ans cost 5 bob.

Tiny Tin of Valve Cores

Another boot sale find.
A very small tin of Valve cores.
The tin is shaped to fit them and the top slides open.
Went to another boot sale today, despite the rain.Found two more treasures for later blogging.
My cup runneth over.....

Pop-Up Slide Viewer and case.

Pop-Up Slide Viewer
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal.
Another boot sale find.
This time from Sutton Fields.
A very pleasing pop up slide viewer that came complete with a slide of some ones mom,dad and dog for me to view.
I might start carrying this around with me in case anyone else wants to view them.
Such a contrast from my digital camera.

Roll of Window Lead

Roll of Window Lead

Perhaps this isn't a strange metal object as such.
But it is so nicley packaged and a nice weight.
It includes instructions too.
HOW TO USE DECRA-LED COILS
1.Unroll face down and brush cement thinly over surface.
2.You may cement all required lead at same time but allow one hour to become tacky.
3.Peel off each strip as required and pull taut holding each end.
Press starting end firmly against glass and guide strip into position with other hand.
4.Using Boning Peg along surface....
there are 3 more steps but I don't want to give all the secrets away.

String Cutter

String cutter
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal.
A small pocket string cutter.Found on a boot fair over near Frodsham.
It was in a box of other strange odds and bobs.
It has "BRITO MARGARINE" stamped on it and "ENGLISH MARGARINE WORKS" and of course is "BRITISH MADE".
Less than 2 inches across.
It is made of 2 pieces of aluminium sandwiching a razor blade between.
And it works.....

Thought I would add a set square that has VW scratched onto it....
It might have once belonged to Vivian Westwood?
Or Verity Wigglebum...who knows?

"Loony Tunes car"

Loony tunes car
Originally uploaded by a1scrapmetal.
I still havn't had time to photgraph my latest finds.
But we did go to a steam rally at Chelford which was full of HUGE strange metal objects.
This car was the oddest car there, I think...
Archie said it was like a Looney Tunes car....
The best thing there (in my opinion) was a steam powered wire cutter.
It cut up a long length of wire into 3 inch pieces.
